Incense and its molecules

Did you know that incensole is the molecule that gives it its smell?

Simon Cotton of the University of Birmingham has been investigating what molecules are in incense and tells us that the most well-known are the boswellic acids and, in fact, there are over 300 volatile molecules have been identified in frankincense, including incensole.
