The community was established in the Spring of 2014 to serve the Ordinariate's mission in West Sussex enabling enquirers to explore the ecumenical vision of Pope Benedict XVI of bringing Anglican liturgical, spiritual and pastoral traditions into the full communion of the Catholic Church and sharing them with other Catholics.
Although the Reformation was a period of upheaval in England the Church of England maintained the greatest continuity of all Reformation churches in its teaching of Catholic faith and morals which Vatican II recognised in the decree on Ecumenism. It became a distinctive tradition rooted in the Scriptures, the teaching of the Church Fathers and the sacred liturgy which maintained most of the Catholic faith. It is this tradition, with the lost Catholic essentials now restored, which the Ordinariates of the Anglican Traditions now continue and maintain in full communion with the whole Catholic Church.
